Hello from California! It's been a long time since I've contributed to the site. I'm not making excuses but rather explaining that in 2015 I made the very big decision to move across the country from New York to California, and while I knew it would take a lot of preparation and work, I had no idea just how much until it actually happened. Despite the many months of figuring out logistics, closing up ties in New York, settling in to a new area, starting a new job, making a new home, etc. etc., I haven't looked back once and can say this change was more than worthwhile. So why the move? Was New York that bad?! Absolutely not. New York is this amazing city with so much diversity, history and great, great food. I do miss two things: my friends and the food! Over the nine years living in the city, I learned and experienced things I don't think I would have, could have anywhere else. However, in more recent years I felt the distance between me and my family. It was finally time to be closer to them again. I was also ready for a 'quieter' lifestyle. Although, I'm beginning to realize that maybe my life wasn't so busy because of New York but rather my choices... I'll find the right balance soon! ;) But it's hard to slow down in California because there's so much access to everything I love: mountains and beaches and wine country! Oh my! So what have I been up to all of this time? I'll spare you the actual moving photos and share the more fun activities. To start, some of my best girlfriends and I had a weekend trip to Napa my very first weekend here. What a fantabulous welcome to the West Coast! I've also made it a point to embrace the beautiful nature and get outdoors: hiking local mountain trails (and getting lost!), rock climbing at Castle Rock State Park, kayaking in the San Francisco Bay, frolicking on the beaches of Santa Cruz, and skiing at Bear Valley. While I have some guilt over putting The Wellness Whisk on hold, it was necessary. Sometimes you need to step back and regroup in order to move forward and set yourself up for success. Here's to even more great changes in 2016!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! :D Speak to you soon, Maxine
